About Me
I'm a snarky, wannabe Stay-at-Home Mom who, instead of living out my dream of endless housework and running errands, spend most of my weekdays working as a Deputy City Clerk for local government. I have an awesome daughter who blesses me daily with the joy of watching her grow and develop into an amazing young lady and I am married to a super smart, super funny, creative and charismatic man who challenges my thinking and makes me laugh (hard!) every day. I also have a beautiful golden retriever, who is a great companion and a very lovable, energetic, soft and fury "gentle giant" - he's nearly 100 lbs of pure love and energy packaged in long, golden, fly-away-and-stick-to-everything-it-touches hair.
I was raised and still live in my hometown of Spokane, WA. I have an incredible family, of which many of the ladies are (or soon will be) on this blog. I have a younger brother who made my life miserable growing up, but who is one of my favorite people (to tease) now. Honestly, I admire him very much and appreciate that he has given me a lovely sister-in-law and an adorable nephew. I have several local cousins I grew up with, several cousins that live in other states, and even more cousins that I married into. My parents, aunts, uncles and in-laws are the most fascinating people around (just ask them).
Hobbies
When I'm not working at my paying job or doing my "volunteer work" of errands and housework (I guess maybe I am living my dream - at least in part), I enjoy the simple things in life. I like painting my nails on a Sunday afternoon. I like folding laundry while watching a t.v. show. I love to go camping and have my doting husband mix and serve me frozen margaritas while I sit and count my blessings, one by one. I like to go for long walks and even hiking. I like shopping with my daughter and going to restaurants and plays with her and my husband. I love to read, either with a warm cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening (late afternoon....whatever). I also love to vacation in general, to travel and to snap pictures of everything.
Favorite Reads
Emily is always asking me for my "favorite this" and my "favorite that." Typically, my "favorite" anything is a Top-10 list with 20 items on it. This is hard for me and I feel terrible for leaving some off. Here goes, in no specific order:
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Book of Ruth by Jane Hamilton
She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
I love reading books by Maya Angelou and Anna Quindlen and for some reason I have three copies of The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller.
Something interesting about me:
I have two different colored eyes! (dark brown & light brown)
